The Pythagorean Superstition of Silence
The Pythagoreans had a superstition about not correcting what is an error or not talking about negative things in public places. The name DiGama actually means twice three, so even when they say the letter, eventually fills in for that position, which has a value of six, its name is still twice three. And this is reflected in quite a few other things in Greek, I believe.
