You shouldn't have to apologize over and over again, unless it's a deep betrayal. A typical apology is going to be, i am so sorry, and when you say it, you mean it. And if it's a real apology, you only need to say it once. If you apologize too much, they're not going to take it as authentic any more. So that's how i see reachin closure with things. You've made your apology, and then you move on. I'm not saying that you should do this in every single case, all the time. When there's been conflict for so long, this might be what you need to do.
