I read in your book, that apparently, forty years ago in the u k, it was common to learn two languages. We studied french and german, but without any idea that you speak these languages. As i said, i'd never met anyone who spoke another language. So i spent my entire time at school and never spoke a word of french or ma whi is exercises. It's like when you go back forty years. The uka was a different world. You were funnelled into the academic stream. And at my school, as you say, it was compulsory to learning two languages.
