The Battle of Tripoli
Tripoli was one of the primary supply ports used by Axis forces during the North African campaign. The British battleships would fire hundreds of 15 inch shells and hundreds more from their 6 inch secondary guns but were unable to inflict any meaningful damage on shore facilities even though they were heavily targeted. On May 22nd, warspights luck would run out and it would finally be hit. Three cruisers and six destroyers would be sunk. Thirty-eight men were killed or would die of their injuries and thirty-one injured. There was a real threat of the warspights sinking but the damage that had been caused for the repair facilities in Alexandria was too extensive. It was decided to send
