The Story of Phillips, a Prisoner of War

i'm drawing from the book electric brain, the stories from the on of the computer age by mike holly. The text has a chapter covering philip's exploits. Holly chose to start that passage by describing how phillips fixed up a dead car so he could get to school more easily. From there, things sort of snow, like many others, phillips was profoundly changed by the second world war. He fought for the british, first in china, then in java, all the while fleeing the advancing japanese troops. Phillips was eventually captured, becoming a prisoner of war. But his engineering save wouldn't rot away.
