What conceptual literacy should give you is a sense that you're not going through life on autopilot being kind of commandeered by the two sources we have to answers to questions about what should I do. And people often think of themselves as free thinkers and as rebels because they ignore one of the commands, but then they're just ever more slaveishly responsive to the other.
