The Role of Gender Stereotypes in Autism
As a boy, you kind of left your own devices and it doesn't really matter. Just be what you want to be. Well, that helps them develop those skills from an early age. It's honed and then it's ingrained. But if the reverse is that never happens for boys, they're never going to develop those skills over time and they'renever going to be good at them. And they're going to stand out like a sore thumb as opposed to a highly tuned, high masking autistic woman. As a result, clinicians subconsciously or even consciously believing this is the fact, may be less likely to even consider autism as a diagnosis for high masking undiagn
