The Odyssey and the Iliad
The Iliad is very much about the Trojan war. The Odyssey is about the aftermath of the Trojan war and that story is told almost purely through one of the veterans Odysseus. In some ways it's an easier poem to relate to and get grips to when you're reading Homer for the first time because it's a slightly more domestic tale than the Iliad.
