Grandparents are disqualified from being able to function as a elder in that younger person's life. Grandparenthood is nothing but doing everything you can to qualify for the function. And grandparenthood is the inevitable consequence of some one else's extra curricular activity. The whole enterprise and the whole phenomenological trajectory of the event, is all dictated by the seating folks.
