Russia could use at least an imagination or principle small nuclear weapons, sometimes called tactical nuclear weapons. They could be used on a battlefield or they could be used in some demonstration area over the ocean. It would be a way of backing or further reinforcing these threats. If you use them over a battlefield, it could have an immediate effect.
