"We can't just let go of all control or engagement with state power and just hope we're gan o sorted out through lots of small cooperatives," she says. "I do think the role of the state should be to come in a lot stronger against, say, corporate land grabs and corporate wealth accumulation." The transition is going to be awkward and uncomfortable for people who rely on corporations as their only source of income, but they need to find new ways - including by creating more local businesses like grodagas (a New York-based grocery chain).
