The Moral Hierarchy of Animals

Do you think there's some threshold where like if you cross that amount of consciousness or like that brain size or however you want to put it, then you we have that moral responsibility? It's a great question. You'd have to have a very clean criterion. And we don't really know what that is right now or whether even such a criterion exists. But my amateur opinion is that when computers get considerably more advanced than they are now, that there will have to be laws of the legal structures to regulate the way that we interact with those entities.
