The Master of Margarita

I was talking to some friends recently and they're both Polish and live over here in the UK now. And I'd read Michaela Bukakov's The Master of Margarita, which is a very well-known Russian novel from the 1930s. And what kind of struck me quite, quite fiercely is I'm very blind to a lot of the socialist, I guess, trends and elements or the collectivist trends that Bukakov was trying to get across. Do you think it's possible for people who haven't been raised in that collectivist ideology to actually see the warning signs and the issues? Or do you think we can begin to learn and teach ourselves through reading and conversations like this
