confession is the willingness of a son or daughter to come clean to a father in heaven who loves them. It's acknowledging that a glorious god is aware of this, and i cannot hide it from him. By not hiding, by not trying to cover this sin myself, i'm turning to him who can cover my nakedness through the atonement of jesus christ. I think there's something powerful about god tying to help both sides come to him by asking for both halves of the whole confess and forsake.
