Alicia Garza is an American Civil Rights organizer and writer best known for co-creating the international Black Lives Matter movement. Garza has become one of the most influential voices on the planet in a movement centered around the liberation of black people from authoritative systemic violence.

In 2013, three radical Black organizers â Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi â created a Black-centered political will and movement building project called #BlackLivesMatter. The project is now a member-led global network of more than 40 chapters.
