The Talmud tells us that there were hordes, cajreas, multitudes of converts, they all want to join. It's just everyone wants to be part of the Jewish people. This high period did not last very long sadly. After Solomon's death, his son Rakhava becomes king and he decides to tax very heavily the northern tribes.
