How to Go Slow With AI in a Competitive World
It's not clear from the book in my view whether he wants this control to be at the macro level, like only through taxation, or at the micro level, at the firm level. There is an enormous pressure in a global world to actually be at a frontier, no matter what this frontier is. And there are so many ways in which things that are supposed to be erased to the top become instead erased to the bottom. But I don't know that we can go slow on AI because if the rest of the world doesn't, then all we do is get left behind.
