Isn't It Good Grief?
The critics group is important in this story, isn't it? Because this is a group of people who met informally to talk about folk. And as it did with John, it gave us a huge repertoire of grounding and understanding of form and structure. It gave us tools that we could work with when something like bagpuss came along. We had dozens of jigs because we used to go to Irish pubs every Sunday and learn from the wonderful musicians there. I'm hugely flattered that you feel it's drawn. It's actually provided something which has a timeless quality to it. For me, with bagpuss, conjures up those wonderful black and white images at the beginning as
