The Importance of Morality in the Economy
The assumption is built in and this is the mistake. It's that if we take it to another Jew, it must be vicious. Logically, it's not true because there's nothing vicious about lending money for interest. If your brother comes and asks you for a loan, do you charge an interest? I don't know how families are today. Maybe today. But at any rate, charging money for what you rent out is not something about doing that. Why then would there be a law not to take interest to other Jews? There's nothing evil about it. Nothing unjust about it. The market economy is based on making the biggest profit possible. You're worried about poor people.
