Modal Jazz - A New Style
Miles Stones is the first album to feature a new style of jazz, Modal Jazz. The modes are given Greek names and each mode has a different feel to it. If you start on Dau, we call this the major scale, or the Ionian mode. Starting on So, we have So Latido Vaimi Fasol, the Mixolydian mode. You also find It in things like Norwegian wood by the Beatles.
