Sensory Substitution for Deaf People
In his lab, ginger works on sensory substitution for people who are deaf. We use patterns of vibration on the skin with vibratory motors to capture sound. And those spikes are then travelling up the arm, in and up the spinal cord into the brain. So it's a very flexible system. But now, the part where i have personally spent most of my time is with the flexibility of the sensory system.
