Leibniz and Newton did dispute who was the true original age of calculus. They were working with E to the X as a big complicated infinite sum. And what they started realizing was that if you wanted to find slope of these infinite sums, then they could do so by working term by term. So each term looked something like a little quadratics, A X squared on two, and they knew how to find the slope of X squared ontwo.
