The 35 New Guys - A Brief History
Our class became known both as the 35 new guys. They'd seen engineers and test pilots like that before. And so we kind of liked that play on that acrinum. But the other subtitle was, ten interesting people in 25 standard white guys. That seemed to carry through for quite a lot. We our class was in line behind astronauths who had been waiting to fly since the end of the apollo and sky lab programs. Our group started to get tapped to go four flights. My turn finally came around a in an assignment in late 19 83, and a flight in october of 19 84.
