Is There a Level in Which the Beingness of the Other Happens?

Dean Obeidallah: I think still when we encounter other people who are suffering we tend to respond to it with a sort of self involved relationality. A lot of times where we see the person and we relate to them through the lens of our own experience, he says. But then there's a level in which a different kind of experience of the other happens that is "horrifying and intense" It was such an intense amount of suffering and overload for me over a short but what felt like a very extended period of time last year according to him.
