Amin's Cruelty
British rule over Uganda and Kenya at the time may have allowed Amin to act with impunity. But what made this young soldier choose to go to the extremes of cruelty? And how far was he willing to go? In 1952 I was sent to sort out the Mal Mal fighters in Kenya. They were rising up against the British - they wanted the white settlers out. More than 11,000 people are believed to have been killed in the fighting.
