How to Start Low Heart Rate Training

I think it kind of goes through stages too. Like sometimes people would do a base building period where they tried to really minimize speed work or don't do any speed work, no higher intensity workouts. After that, jump into a race specific schedule and just start adding in once or twice a week high intensity training. Once you get your math pays lower, that will help pay off on race day too. But then again, there's a time and place for higher intensity running too.
