Is There an Option in General Relativity to Make This Happen?

70% of the energy budget of the universe is this weird stuff, dark energy that's causing the universe to expand faster and faster every year. But again, we don't really know why it's happening or where it comes from. We have some theories that it maybe is like a property of space itself, like space itself as potential energy and it can't help itself but to get bigger.
