Will Xi Give Putin Arms? Has A Cold War Already Begun?

ChinaTalk

CHAPTER

Will China Really Start to Send Arms to Russia?

The worse Putin is doing, the likelier it is that sort of failure on the battlefield leads to real domestic real chances of him not being in power in two or three years. Another factor, which is very cynically Chinese, but I think is real, is that the more the United States is involved in a conflict in Ukraine and in Europe, the better for China. There are billions of dollars of US arms sales to Taiwan that are going unfulfilled at this point because of Ukraine. The U.S. has talked about pivoting to Asia, more troop presence in Asia; we have not changed our force parks or very much at all in East Asia.
