Influencers and the Influencer Industry in the 1990s

There wasn't a lot of like broad public awareness until the mid to late 2010s when we had a you know a few a few different things happen. The FTC started to get involved in the industry and they famously sent out warning letters to Kim Kardashian who for not disclosing her partnership with a brand. Asina O'Neill posted these youtube videos saying this is all fake this is all lie and miserable, which brought it to people's attention that oh there's something more going on behind the scenes here. There was sort of an aesthetic congealed around what influencers looked like especially on Instagram and really carefully curated uh really posed  a lot of times almost looking like a catalog from decades
