Introduction
Australia is the third largest exporter of fossil fuels in the world. Thanks to Russia's war on Ukraine, gas and coal companies are currently raking in windfall energy profits. In particular, the gas industry has enjoyed windfall profits of up to $40 billion. So surely Australia is at least getting its fair share of taxes out of the gas industry, right? Right? Nope. One of those billions will be paid an extra PRRT by design, because it is so badly designed.
