The Problem With Self-Preservation
Nietzsche says that organisms give rise to something beyond themselves. That self-preservation, he makes a secondary phenomenon here. It's actually, in many ways, runs contrary to what the will to power might be or what it might demand of an organism. He sees reproduction and nourishment as sort of more two sides of the same coin.
