Introduction

Professor Yasin Dutton is Emeritus Professor of Arabic Studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. His special interests are the early development of Islamic law and the School of Imam Malik. He has kindly agreed to discuss one of the most important texts in the whole of Islam, a work called Muwata of Imam Malik which he calls Medina Amal.
