The President's Veto Statement
The constitution requires a written justification for not approving the bill. The president's veto statement is a document that formally explains why the president vetoed a bill. And then the o m b sends it out to the departments that need to weigh in before making a recommendation as to whether the president should sign it. Sometimes the president makes kind of a spectacle of the veto process, right? Like i'm thinking of the times we see the president presenting their rational for their veto, or potential veto, on television. We don't actually see every veto on tv. But the lower profile ones, they just get the statement. So what happens next?
