Does Everyone Go From French to English?

When you go to another country, does everybody just default to english? I haven't rit thotin in france, but i believe the french is very proud of the language. Even if they don't speak english that well, like we can communicate with hand gestures. Most of them actually just want to come over and grab a photo.
