Cortical Steroids in Septic Shock

The current surviving sepsis guidelines provide a weak recommendation to initiate cortical steroids in patients with ongoing vasopressor requirements. They specifically recommend here a hydrocortisone 200 milligrams per day. The proposed benefit of initiating steroids in septic shock is a quicker resolution of shock, decreased mechanical ventilation time as well as I see linked to the implementation of cortical steroids.
