When Your Parents Grow Old, Are You There for Them?
The expectation to obey your parents ceases when you're independent of them. Obedience towards parents ceases with the emancipation of the children, not so respect, which is always owed to them. Catechism 2218 says that adult children must give their parents support in old age and times of distress. As much as we can, we need to show up and be there for them. I know some of you have done this heroically but all of us are called to it.
