Is Your Parenting Strategy Disappointing?

As a kid, you had to realize that your parents were full of shit because you need to figure out some way to make this social situation work and they weren't helping. Your strategy was good at the time but now it's counter-productive. So did your parents ever seriously engage in trying to help you fix that problem? Was it always dismissive on some level? It wasn't dismissive. Like I didn't feel like they were always there to listen and there to give advice.
