Timothy Stanley: You've got three options to deal with aging population. One is you allow more immigration, because it's young people who are contributing straight away. The other option is that you somehow create conditions where people have children they don't want to have. And I think most people's attitude towards immigration goes beyond the rough calculation of whether it's good for GDP or bad for GDP. People were often saying during Brexit, they warned, it can make you poorer. But many people said, I don't care, because the issue for them was actually the sense of the nation changing. That was impoverishing in a spiritual or cultural way, not in a material way.
