In the early days, there were plenty of wallets that were not checking checksum. There was huge confusion because like 80 to 90 plus percent of people had no idea what the concept of Malleability applied or bent here. But I don't think he even registered to most that this was a concern. It's just that we had an actor that came into play that was flipping every single transaction in the network on purpose and essentially de-dossing the network with inverse S.
