Legree and Carouge Fought in a Duel

Jean carouge and jacques legree faced off in a judicial duel for the title of best swordsman. Jean won, but by virtue of his victory Legree was found guilty on rape charges and hanged. The king gave Jean an annual income of 200 livres as well as several other gifts. But count pierre would never forgive him; he refused to give up trying to take over Pierre's estate.
