Vincent shot himself in the midst of a psychotic episode, an act of irrational self harm. It is known to have been gustav revau who lent his revolver to renee secret and secreton claims that vincent knew the boys often took swims in the nearby river. There's no doubt he did not trust secreton with it. I would have certainly taken it from him too. Maybe it was something else entirely. Perhaps vincent just found a revolver on a tree stump. We don't know. But again, we have to be careful trying to answer these unknowns with possibilities.
