Gamification is not the same as video games, but it is closely linked. As video games have become more praised within popular code, just so has gamification become more accepted. So you see a lot of headlines saying that games are good for you and they effectively have no negative effects whatsoever. They're good at making you make friends or increasing your intelligence or that sort of thing. But I think a lot of people still kind of hold a grudge against having their hobby demonized.
