The Thompson lamp illustration is an example of that second argument that I mentioned for the finisher to the past. The impossibility of forming an actually infinite collection by successive edition, like switching's on and off of a lamp. And what you're trying to demonstrate here is that the universe can't be eternal because it leads to logical absurdities. There's no logical contradiction in the notion of the actual infinite infinite set. It's perfectly consistent and coherent. But when you try to instantiate it in the world of the real, the thing that leads to these absurdities.
