Libya's Oil Crisis
Since 1979, Libya has been rocked by another international oil crisis. Ordinary Libyans feel it in their pockets. The policy of land redistribution has been crippling farming. Massive public works like the Great Man-made River Irrigation Pipeline lie unfinished. Unthinkable as it may have been previously, there is growing opposition to Gaddafi's rule.
