The EU's Rules for Transparency
Transparency groups have been calling on the EU to implement its own rules. MEPs are allowed to have second jobs and there is a register, but these rules are continuously abused. A lot of MEPs don't bother to register gifts, free flights to countries such as Qatar,. Really? One senior European official on the commission resigned from his post not so long ago. Because he failed to register numerous free flights to Qatar at a time when he was involved in negotiations with Qatargate.
