The song has a brilliant way of puncturing all the lovely imagery and bringing us back to earth. The word scream literally travels outward, away from its point of origin, maybe to a heaven. There is also this lovely woodwind accompaniment i always a fan liso. These clarinets come in in harmony with one another. They move apartn they move back together. And remember it, because i turn later, that'll be a little bit different.
Tori Amos was one of the most distinctive songwriters of the 90s, and remains a powerful musical voice decades later. "Silent All These Years," one of many strong singles off of her 1992 solo debut, is a perfect encapsulation of so many of the things that make her music special.
