Friedrich Hecar: A German Nationalist

Friedrich Hecar was born in September 1811, making him 36 years old when the revolutions of 1848 broke out. In 1842 he was elected to Baden's chamber of deputies and gave up his private practice to become a full-time politician. His star rising at the same time as the economic crisis of the mid 1840s was hitting. It was during this period that Hecar met and began a working partnership with the other German revolutionary Gustav Struva.
