How Do We Overcomplicate Things?

We go through life without any sort of comparison point. And i think that's where, as content crator specifically, we over complicate things. I put it in inverted finger commers, because some one can appear successful, but be very unhappy or struggling. So've got a question for zel, or anyone else. Where do our expectations come from?
