apulius reads out a number of poems during his defence. He uses them to show how much more intelligent he is than his opponents. The judge 'is such a snobbat', says the poet, who doesn't even speak latin. Apulaus was accused of using false names in his erotic poetry. They must have said that, because that leads to one of the most famous part of apilaus apology.
