The Chinese Are Interdependent
LITHUB: One of the words I kept reading when reading about your work was interdependent. And in one interview on LITHUB, you talked about how becoming a novelist was basically the most individual thing you can be. Yet there is an interdependent part that persists in that as well. What do you mean by "interdependence" and why does it resonate with you so much? JK Rowling: Interdependency has kind of two meanings. It's not that the self is passive,. but the self is in service to something else and to agree to a greater good.
